Bus Procurement Announcement Puts KC2026 Ahead of Schedule 

KC2026 is proud to be the first of the 16 Host Cities to announce the procurement of buses for the FIFA World Cup 26™. This initial lease includes 200 buses and will provide expanded service complementing existing bus routes, facilitating travel to matches, the FIFA Fan Festival™, Kansas City International Airport, and other key locations. This early move to procure buses underscores Kansas City’s leadership and regional collaboration in FIFA World Cup 2026™ planning.

KC2026 Transportation Stakeholder Workshop  

A diverse group of over 40 professionals from the transportation sector, municipalities across the metro, and the region’s sports, arts and business communities gathered for an afternoon of collaboration and brainstorming. Their unified goal: to share progress and milestones KC2026 is achieving in preparation for the FIFA World Cup 26™ and to generate ideas to create a best-in-class transportation experience in Kansas City while also considering restraints such as time and cost.  

Participants generated more than 120 ideas, ranging from expanding existing bike share programs, to providing direct transit from KCI to Downtown and Johnson County. This collaborative effort marks a crucial step toward ensuring efficient and effective transportation solutions for the FIFA World Cup 26™.
