2024 In Review

In 2024, we strengthened foundations by reinforcing cross-regional collaboration and national and international partnerships. Bolstered by public funding from the states of Kansas and Missouri, Johnson County, Kansas, and the City of Kansas City, Missouri, the KC2026 staff grew from just two people to 10 in six months this year. This exponential growth enabled our team to execute high-level planning in transportation, security and safety, regional activations, marketing, venue operations, hospitality and moreWe set plans in place for massive, exciting events like the FIFA Fan Festival™, earning recognition among other host cities across three countries for Kansas City’s forward thinking. We shone a brighter spotlight on what makes Kansas City the Soccer Capital of America—and one of the most unique FIFA World Cup 26 Host Cities.

KC’s Business Community Shows Strength in Numbers

The window to submit the Business Interest Form closes at the end of the month and already, more than 1000 businesses across more than 75 communities have signed up — an incredible showing that reflects the passion and momentum of KC’s local business community. KC2026 is committed to supporting and educating regional businesses, including diverse-owned companies, about FIFA World Cup 26™ opportunities and resources. We are pleased to share that of the 1000-plus businesses that have submitted an interest form, nearly half have self-identified as women- or diverse-owned.

Starting next year, KC2026 will work in collaboration with local and statewide experts to provide relevant information to regional businesses of what to expect for FIFA World Cup 26™. A range of topics and best practices will help navigate the current landscape and ensure businesses have the knowledge to be better prepared. We look forward to sharing more information with our community in the New Year.
